Treasure

It's been a busy start to the week on clubmoustache, and its not going to end just yet!

Nicolas Makelberge from Sweden, makes melodic and rythmic music with a particular 80s touch. It actually gives you a strange feeling listening to his song "She's like gravity". I know it is a tricky choice but you have absolutely no idea where the song comes from! It is just awesome.

His album "Dying in Africa" was released on 2007.

Olympics Black Power

Mexico Olympics 1968 medal ceremony is probably the most popular ceremony ever.
The two athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos protested during the victory ceremony against continuing racial discrimination of black people in the U.S.
As you may imagine, many of the crowd booed the act...

"Black America will understand what we did tonight." - Tommie Smith.

Happy Birthday: Google

The giant Google company is 12 years old today 27th September, 2010!

Even if no one cares, it is pleasant to know it's been already 12 years that Google rules the internet and literally revolutionized the way you browse the web everyday...

Waiting For A Star To Fall - Boys Meet Girls

Still surfing on the 80s wave, let me introduce you a real pearl coming from the U.S: Boys Meet Girls, an american pop duo.
They are well known for their "Waiting For A Star To Fall" hit which by the way reached number 9 UK charts in 1989.

This is an absolutely perfect 80s pop song, and even if some of you are not keen on 80s pop music, it is worth definitely a listen. Believe me.

Funky day

Here we come again with some special 80s music as usual.
Today is a special funky day, so let's start the session with "Juicy Fruit" from the Mtume group (80s American funk group).
The hit song from 1983 can also be heard in the famous video game GTA Vice City on Fever 105 radio station (for the lucky ones who played the video game).

Then let's continue with another 80s hit "More Bounce to the Ounce" of Zapp and Roger an american soul/funk duo formed by two brothers (Roger and Larry).

"Juicy Fruit" and "More Bounce to the Ounce" were both sampled by The Notorious B.I.G later!

Please enjoy the two songs as much as I do.

Caribou

"To make it short: I am the type of lucky guy that has a girlfriend absolutely crazy about music and everytime she discovers a new or special songs , she litteraly runs back home as fast as possible and say to me: "you really need to listen to this !". It means that she is indirectly part of the blog as well.
Having say this, now let's listen some music that she FORCED me to listen and which I enjoyed!"

Caribou is a canadian electronic artist that does an increidible different work.
His previous album"Andorra" won 2008 Polaris Musik Prize (Canadian music award).

What you can expect from him is always experimental music... it is nothing weird but something new and different.

Odessa which is an extract from his latest album "Swim" gets better everytime you listen it.
+ extra track / Dundas, Ontario video clip from one older album "Start Breaking My Heart".

Listen to the entire album if you want to know more about this intriguing Mathematician guy.

1826

The first photo ever taken was in 1826 at Saint Loup de Varenne in France by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce a French inventor.

"Point de vue du Gras" is the title of the first successful picture that changed the world.
What you need to know about this human progress is that it needed a total of 8 hours of exposure during the daylight, a camera obscura and lot patience for such result!

New Order

New Order is a British band formed in 1980 by the members of the Joy Division after Ian Curtis suicide.

Blue Monday is the most famous song they made and it was released in 1983 and later remixed in 1988 and 1995 by the band itself. UK sales of Blue Monday were estimated over one million!

The Perfect Kiss released two years later (1985) is also one of their leading songs but it only reach #46 of UK charts. Some say it is likely due to the lack of marketing made by the Factory label... who knows?

Anyway New Order is a respectful pop/alternative rock band that changed the sound of that time.
