Kaufmann Desert House

Kauffman Desert House is located in Palm Springs city, California and was designed by Richard Neutra in 1946. Mr Neutra passed away in 1970 and he is still considered as one of the most important modern architect. The specific Neutra's masterpiece is a bunch of harmony, efficiency, modern design and history.

Old French Classics

It might exists many different things that make you think about France and its culture, such as art and/or wine, but there is nothing like Josephine Baker and Charles Trenet's songs that undeniably make you travel in time and feel the atmosphere of the old Paris. The two following songs represent all the feelings and thoughts that you would stereotypically associate with France and, especially Paris of 30-40s (Pre-WWII).

Tom Haugomat and Bruno Mangyoku are the two directors of those 2 awesome short-movies. Please check their vimeo and blog.

Back to basics

This great work of Tilent Sepic has been suggested (once more) by one very important person in my life and indeed, it is worth having a closer look at it.

The following gif images are only an overview of the tumblr and, they perfectly illustrate simple everyday's feelings and scenarios that are likely to be ignored in our today's society, sadly.

Midnight city - M83

For those who do not know M83, it is a French indie-pop band from Antibes, France (French Riviera) and the group has been active since 2001.
The following video clip "Midnight City" has been produced by Division and it is only an extract of the studio album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" freshly released on October 2011. The album has received positive reviews and you can get it on iTunes

Henri Cartier-Bresson

Henri Cartier-Bresson was a French photographer who passed away in 2004 at the age of 96. He was usually called "the eye of the century" and became unquestionably the major representative of humanistic photography in the 20th century. Some consider him as the father of the modern photojournalism
Mr Cartier-Bresson would stride along the streets with his Leica camera to get an opportunity to capture some unexpected scenes that simply happened by chance. His original methods have definitely helped to democratised what we call today the "street photography".

He was often at different places where history was happening. For instance, he visited Gandhi in India in 1948 and then witnessed the transformation of China in 1949 with the victory of Mao Zedong.

Still today, Henri Cartier-Bresson is considered as one of the most influential photograph of the history of photography.

"T-shirt and tight blue jeans"

"T-shirt and tight blue jeans" is a song released in 1983 by Divine. Actually, he was an underground film star-singer and, his stage performances would often be described by himself as "just good, dirty fun, and if you find it offensive, honey, don't join in".
A part from this, Divine made a legendary partnership with the American music producer Bobby Orlando, which lead to several musical hits, including the following 83's hit song.

Chanson Française

Born in 1924 in the French capital, Mr. Charles Aznavour is probably the most best-known French singer in the world and he has built his reputation around his unique tenor voice. He wrote more than 800 songs in French, Spanish, English and even German during his entire career.

The following song, "Hier encore" (Yesterday when I was young for the English version) was released in 1964 and is definitely one the best song he ever made.

This chanson has been introduced to me by one of my best friend and according to him, the song represents perfectly the vieille France. I will let you be the judge.

Lifelike

I would like to introduce two great songs of Lifelike, a renown French artist with a strong international reputation, particularly thanks to his 2005 hit "Discopolis" and some remixes he made for Kitsuné, Ed Banger or Modular. He is definitely influenced by 70-80s New Wave and Pop Music.

I need to mention that the first remix, "My Star" was introduced to me by a close friend of mine and it is completely astonishing!

Dreadlock Holiday - 10cc

The 10CC is a 70s British rock band from Manchester city. The band is still active and they are currently performing a tour, mainly across European countries.

The song "Dreadlock Holiday" appears in the Social Network's soundtrack.

(Please notice the caribbean vibe (synthetizer) which is particularly brilliant!)

I know (Com Truise Remix) - Franklin

The remix of Franklin made by Com Truise is extremely 80s computerish but still it is very pleasant and full of passion. Besides the music, I have to admit that the artwork is especially remarkable.

You will find some other great remixes of the artist on his soundcloud and myspace page.
